In the complex texture of these walls, thin flakes of rock of various types, shape, length and colour are layered, giving the wall a homogeneous and slightly rippled compactness. I
materials used include Montorfano granite, Baveno, beola and serizzo, which in their shades of silver grey, lead or ochre enrich the uniqueness of the structure. The entrance to the villa is characterised by two imposing polished green granite columns, the same material found in the frames of the entrance door and windows, creating an elegant contrast with the scagliola wall behind the columns.
The façade facing the lake, more reserved and protected from outside gaze, abandons its severe appearance to adopt an elegant classical style, with three loggias entirely in terracotta, whose red colour blends beautifully with the grey of the stone.
The octagonal columns, the balustrade columns, the window frames and the tiles integrated into the green metal beams of the terraces were made of terracotta to a design by Aldo Rossi, thanks to the collaboration of a Tuscan kiln.
The craftsmanship in working the stone flake facades, combined with a surprising use of terracotta and a special copper covering of the vaulted roof, gives the residence a unique and precious character. In contrast to the terracotta, the red paintwork of the window and door frames recalls oriental colours, inspired by the architect's experience in Japan, while the rose-plastered surface provides a backdrop to the loggias overlooking the lake.
The handrail of the balustrades, made of wood painted white, underlines the choice of using materials that evolve and become richer over time.
The layout of the villa on four levels creates a succession of independent but connected spaces.
