Four kilometers north of Ulcinj is the unique bay of Valdanos. Going deep into the land, it is protected on both sides by high mountains. Despite the proximity of the city and only a 2-kilometer distance from the Bar Ulcinj highway, the place is quite secluded and great for a relaxing holiday. This is partly due to the beach itself. The coastline, which stretches for a little more than half a kilometer, is covered with large, multi-sized pebbles from 1 to 20 centimeters in diameter. The descent into the water, although quite gentle, is also very rocky, which does not please the bathers very much. But there is extremely clear, well-heated water here. The bay and the surrounding area have been considered a nature reserve since 1968. It owes this to one of the largest olive groves on the Adriatic. Different sources give figures from 18 to 74 thousand trees. Most of them are over 300 years old, and there are also 800-year-old specimens. The local air is very useful for patients with respiratory diseases.
