Atakey(öy)— semt (quarter) in the Bakyrkey district. It appeared as a result of the implementation of the project of one of the first satellite cities in the country.
The luxurious Atakei district, located in the European part of Istanbul, rises above the Marmara Sea and is surrounded by a magnificent public service network with vital facilities, as well as a charming beach. It is located 43 km from the new Istanbul airport and today is considered a favorite place for buying real estate by wealthy people who are chasing the comfort and luxury of housing.
Atakey is characterized by its modern and vibrant urban style for residential complexes, and the combination of this with the presence of the coast on the sea impresses the entire population of Istanbul. In addition to the proximity to the metrobus line on the E-5 highway, there are shopping malls, hotels, elite restaurants, an integrated amusement park and nearby universities.
Its territory, which was previously the outskirts of Istanbul, belonged to the Turkish military and was called Baruthane (literally translated as "powder magazine"). Then the area was named "Atakey", which can literally be translated as "the settlement of Ataturk".
