Description of the object

The Glanzstof-high—rise is an administrative building located in the Elberfeld district of Wuppertal. The building on Kazinstrasse is the second tallest in the city after the tower of the city savings bank and dominates the silhouette of the center of Elberfeld. The high-rise building on Kazinstrasse and adjacent buildings on Herzogstrasse and Moirhen were registered as five separate architectural monuments in the list of protected sites of the city of Wuppertal on July 19, 2001. The construction of the 47-meter building by architect Hanns Dustmann began in 1954 and was completed in 1958. It served as a new administrative building with 15 floors for the chemical fiber manufacturer Vereinigte Glanzstoff-Fabriken AG, whose head office was located in Wuppertal. Today, the building is rented to various tenants, ranging from companies such as Abakus to the University of Wuppertal.

Despite the status of an architectural monument, which extends to the buildings of the complex (with the exception of the cinema and the school), energy construction activities have been carried out in recent years, including the replacement of 2,100 windows, the installation of two new heating systems, fire safety measures and much more. The facilities are well maintained and do not require urgent repairs.
