Archaeological excavations on the site
During its former use as a marl mine, several archaeological discoveries were made at the site, such as:
-molluscs and shell fossils
- a collection of fossilized fauna of the Eocene era, stored in the Tata Museum and numbering several hundred specimens
- in the 1950s, during excavations of the mine, a cemetery of medieval skeletons was discovered.
