In the suburbs of Florence, just 9 km away, on one of the picturesque hills overlooking the valley of the Arno River, a villa with a stunning story of betrayal, betrayal, love and strange deaths associated with the Medici family is for sale. But about everything in order.
The palace has existed since the XV century. At first it was owned by the Bucelli family from Montepulciano, then the Landi family from Castellina in Chianti, and in 1570 the villa was acquired by Piero Bonaventuri and his wife, the Venetian Bianca Cappello. She is the main character of the entertaining stories.
At the age of 15, in 1563, Bianca fled Venice with her lover, Pietro Bonaventuri, a young Florentine from an impoverished family, taking with her all the jewelry from her father's estate that she could get her hands on.
Upon arrival at the groom's homeland, it turned out that, contrary to his assurances, he was not at all Bianca's equal in position. Pampered Bianca found herself forced to do all the menial chores she had never done before. Soon Bianca meets the Crown Prince of Florence, Francesco I de' Medici, who in 1564 assumed the regency for his father, Duke Cosimo, who retired from business and becomes his mistress.
Their connection was not prevented by the long-planned marriage with the aim of an alliance with the Habsburgs to Joan of Austria, daughter of Emperor Ferdinand I, which followed in 1565
Francesco showered Bianca with gifts, including villas and gardens. He settled his mistress in a house known as the Palazzo di Bianca Cappello, near his official residence, the Palazzo Pitti. And in 1570, he paid for the villa La Tana, bought by Bianca's husband. But soon the husband was stabbed to death on one of the streets of Florence. The murderers were given the opportunity to escape from Florence.
On April 11, 1578, his wife, Francesco I de' Medici, died in childbirth. It was suspected that she was killed by her husband and his mistress: poisoned or her pregnant woman was deliberately pushed down the stairs.
As soon as the mourning for his deceased wife ended, on October 12 of the same year, a solemn official wedding and coronation took place in Florence. Bianca was proclaimed Grand Duchess of Tuscany and crowned daughter of the Republic of Venice
She will be a duchess for 9 years
In 1587, Francesco died on October 19th, Bianca died the next morning. There are two versions of death, one was poisoned with arsenic by Francesco's brother, the other died of malaria.
After their deaths, Villa La Tana was sold to the Ospedale di Santa Maria Nuova Hospital.
In 1631, a representative of another Tuscan family, the Ricasoli Barons, took possession of the villa, but despite the fact that the Ricasoli family is the owner of extensive estates in Tuscany, they did not have power in Florence, so without intrigue and gossip, Baron Leon Francesco Pasquale Ricasoli is engaged in a complete reconstruction of the villa, conducted under the direction of architect Giulio Foggini
In 1772, the villa was decorated with frescoes by Antonio Chiochi depicting seascapes framed by elaborate stucco
In the 19th century, the architect renovated the villa once again: he made an access road to it, framed by cypresses, which leads to a grand staircase divided into two wings and framing a beautiful grotto with a statue of Poseidon.
The villa's modern formal Italian gardens have hardly changed since the 18th century, with geometric beds of irises and azaleas. The fragrant gardens of this Renaissance villa, as well as the legacy of Bianca Capello, inspired the current owner, Simone Kozak Neifi, to create the first perfume for her brand Simone Cosac Profumi: "Perle di Bianca".
The villa covers an area of 3830 sq.m. and offers 5 halls, 10 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. Elevator , SPA, indoor and outdoor swimming pool
The park has an area of 12 hectares
