Villa Virginia is the work of a very famous Italian architect - Pio Soli, a precursor of the Liberty style that still today distinguishes some of the works of the Ligurian city of Sanremo. The Villa was built between 1883 and 1896. It became the property of Baron Thiem Adolph, a famous German collector of Italian works of art. In a continuation it is bought by a noble Belgian family and is named as Villa "Virginia" in honor of the owner's wife - Virginia Pedriali Dutilleul. Thanks to her, some works of art that furnished the Villa were miraculously saved during the German occupation. For the intervention of Mrs. Pedriali was made a security room inside the Villa where to recover the works, while the same Villa was occupied by the German Command. That room was never discovered and with it the precious works that were transferred to the Museum were saved.
