The building is located in Riga’s historic center, whose structures were formed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is situated on a typical residential block in the so-called Quiet Center. Historically there were two buildings on the land plot. The building whose façade faces Dzirnavu Street was built in 1908 as a retail and residential complex, to a design by the architect E. Trompovskis.
six-storey residential complex with retail stores on the street side on the first floor and a car park in the basement. The building’s signature element is its main façade, which in line with the requirements of the Architecture Board looks as similar as possible to the historic national romantic façade, retaining the same volume and detail proportions, finishing materials and decorative elements. The buildings color scheme employs light green tones, with decorative glazed tiles accenting the façade. The window glazing and roof covering also feature greenish tones, giving the building an image as the “Green House.” The façades on the interior courtyard side have been formed in a modern style as a reminder that the building is a new structure. The building was commissioned in 2003. The six-story structure is in a U-form with a courtyard and two entrances, from the façade on Dzirnavu Street and from the courtyard. The building’s foundations, external walls and overhead coverings are made from reinforced concrete and concrete, while roof has been covered with metal.
