Filsdorf is an idyllic village in the municipality of Dahlheim, in south-eastern Germany. It is known for its Roman past. The Gallorim settlement "Vicus Ricciacus" near modern Dalheim was on an important transport route between the Mediterranean and the Rhine and included several temples and thermal baths. In 1985, a theater venue was discovered that could accommodate 3,500 - 4,000 spectators. Today, the Roman character of the site is marked by an obelisk decorated with a Roman eagle and located on a plateau overlooking the village. The association "Ricciacus Frënn" also organizes tours of the theater and vicus on summer weekends.
Dahlheim has several restaurants and small shops. The house "La Cerisaie" of the Kräizbierg Foundation is located at the entrance to the village, next to the school grounds, and provides supervised accommodation for people with physical disabilities.
The cycle path "Charly Gaul" (PC11) stretches 14 km from Fentange to Ellange, passing through Röser, Weiler-la-Tour and Vilsdorf.
Vilsdorf is in close proximity to several major cities such as Friesange and Remich, as well as the French and German borders. The esplanade in Remich invites you to stroll through the market every third Monday and take part in the monthly flea fair.
The bus stop "Filsdorf, Op der Plaz" is a 5-minute walk from the property and is served by bus lines 171, 180, 192 and 455. The nearest train and bus station is in Sandweiler-Contern, a 15-minute drive away, and is served by line CFL 30 (Luxembourg - Wasserbillig - Trier).
Kirchberg in Luxembourg can be reached by car in 20 minutes. Ash Belval and Remich can be reached by car in 25 and 10 minutes respectively.
School cycles 1-3 are taught at the Kierlingerstrooss school in Dahlheim. There is also a preschool and a center "An den Wolleken". Cycle 4 is taught in the old Dahlheim school building. Several secondary schools in Luxembourg and Grevenmacher are located nearby.
